OTTO is a singer-songwriter based in Wales who writes from an old POST OFFICE building. Lives and breathes music, he plays multiple instruments (keys, guitar, ukulele and who knows what else) and is not afraid to try out new song writing and recording techniques. Having been part of the FORTE PROJECT in previous years, shows that his music and person must be worthy of our time and attention. The genres that dominate his music are FOLK, POP, and INDIE.
His songs are quite remarkable in a sense that they TELL STORIES, and real ones at that. CHASING INSPIRATION instead of waiting for it to come to him is one of his secrets to success. This sometimes results in him talking to his friends or reaching out to older people who have a lot to say about their lives. In exchange he turns them into his wonderful music and adds to these people’s lives by not letting the world forget them and their stories.
If all this were not enough, last year he started writing and SENDING TELEGRAMS to his audience and fans who subscribed to him. He writes down his thoughts and feelings and each telegram is UNIQUE. Imagine, if you could get a personal letter, written to you personally by an amazing artist like him? Maintaining a good relationship with the people who support you is key, and Otto knows that.
No wonder that good things happened to his career sooner rather than later. Dave Stewart, yes, the Eurythmics one, has just SIGNED Otto to his label called BAY STREET RECORDS. The first single they have released, TELL ME SOMETHING, has been played on BBC Radio 1 multiple times, on BBC Radio Wales and lots of local radios. It must be a magical time for him to see how his hard work is paying off.
This year’s Immersed is very lucky to have him play both the MAIN STAGE and the SOFA SESSION’S stage. On the acoustic set you can see him perform with Mari Mathias and on the main stage you will get a full band experience. Do not miss out on either of them if you feel like you need a cosy afternoon playlist. There’ll be an INTERVIEW with him that has been recorded in the Tramshed, and listening to it is your perfect opportunity to find out even more about him.
